Here is our 2nd Article about What is Islam?

In the Previous Article, we have known about the basic definition of Islam and now we are going to know further detail about Islam.

  • The word “Islam” means “submission to the will of God.”
  • Followers of Islam are called Muslims.
  • Muslims worship one, all-knowing God, who in Arabic is known as Allah.
  • Followers of Islam aim to live a life of complete submission to Allah. They believe that nothing can happen without Allah’s permission, but humans have free will.
  • Islam teaches that Allah’s word was revealed to the prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)  through the angel Gabriel (Jibraeel AHS).
  • Muslims believe several prophets were sent to teach Allah’s law. They respect some of the same prophets as Jews and Christians, including Ibrahim, Mosa, Noah, and Eisa (Peace be upon him). Muslims contend that Muhammad was the final prophet.
  • Mosques are places where Muslims worship.
  • Some important Islamic holy places include the Kaaba shrine in Mecca, the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem, and the Prophet Muhammad’s mosque in Medina.
  • The Quran is the major holy text of Islam. The Hadith is another important book. Muslims also revere some material found in the Judeo-Christian Bible.
  • Followers worship Allah by praying and reciting the Quran. They believe there will be a day of judgment, and life after death.

RIGHTs and DUTIEs of HUSBAND and WIFE

  Islam has enjoined upon the husband's duties towards his wife, and vice versa, and among these duties are some which are shared by both husband and wife.  We will mention – by the help of Allaah – some of the texts of the Qur'an and Sunnah which have to do with the duties of the spouses towards one another, quoting also from the commentaries and views of the scholars.  Firstly:  The rights of the wife which are hers alone:  The wife has financial rights over her husband, which are the mahr (dowry), spending, and accommodation.  And she has non-financial rights, such as the fair division between co-wives, being treated in a decent and reasonable manner, and not being treated in a harmful way by her husband.  1.Financial rights  (a)The mahr (dowry).
